How do I train to teach?

We offer bespoke, fee funded and employment based training placements, in a range of subjects, within our partnership of primary and secondary schools.

The guidance that I received from the university, particularly at my training school, enabled me to flourish. The supportive and encouraging environment enabled me to develop my confidence in teaching, and pushed me to be the teacher I had always wanted to become. I honestly could not have found a better place to train, than with the Bucks Hub.’’ Student  at a Bucks Hub partnership school, 2020-2021

Based at Dr Challoner's High School and strategically led by Kate Brown, The Bucks Hub Partnership (The Bucks Hub) is a teacher training provider offering specialist and individually tailored fee funded and employment based Initial Teacher Training (ITT) placements to passionate and dedicated individuals within Buckinghamshire. We work in partnership with Danes Educational Trust and together we form The Partnership, offering teacher training opportunities across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. In essence, we offer unapologetically exclusive and high-quality, bespoke teacher training to a select community of applicants

In partnership with our nominated awarding body, the University of Hertfordshire (UH), we offer a route to PGCE with QTS teaching qualifications. UH is accredited with the Teaching Excellence Framework, Gold Award and is a leading regional provider of Initial Teacher Education.

We are distinct in our offer and driven by our aims to provide exceptional quality education for the student teachers we train and the communities we serve. We offer a comprehensive range of in-house and external professional development opportunities: including self-selected sessions tailored to each individual’s interests and development needs.

Throughout the academic year, The Bucks Hub’s rich continuing professional development sessions (CPDL), combined with our bespoke induction programme, supports the development of workplace pedagogy, enabling all student teachers to forge relationships beyond their immediate context.

Placements offered through The Bucks Hub are full-time with four days in school and one day at The University of Hertfordshire. Placements start at the beginning of the academic year in September 2024 and finish at the end of June 2025. Training takes place in two contrasting school settings and is supported by experienced in-school mentors and university-based tutors.

You will be able to search for our Teacher Training placements from 3rd October 2023 via ‘Find Postgraduate Teacher Training Courses’ on the Department for Education (DfE) website and can apply for our placements from 10th October 2023 (see relevant links below).  We then recruit for programme trainees on a ‘first come, first served’ basis throughout the year until the application cycle closes at the end of June 2024. As such, we encourage interested applicants to submit their application as soon as possible.

Registration on the programme is subject to the successful outcome of all entry requirements and suitability checks being met. For further information please click here.

For any queries, please contact Lu du Preez, ITT Bucks Hub Administrator on 01494 763 296 (Ext 317) or by email.
