I am now approaching the end of my sixth year here at Challoner’s and I am still amazed at the dizzy heights the girls achieve, whether it be academically, artistically, in the community or on the sports field. The time and commitment they give is astonishing. I was further reminded of this when an ex-student contacted me to tell me that she was being nominated for an award for best student placement at Loughborough University.
Laura Webber was working as an Aerodynamicist for the Mercedes Formula 1 Team. The win-ner was being decided by public vote and being an enterprising young lady, she asked if the link could be passed around to staff and students in school. Mrs Russell also showed the video in a Year 7 and 8 assembly. Laura went on to win the competition! I think her greatest achieve-ment is being incredibly successful in her chosen field which is traditionally male dominated. She will be returning back to Mercedes when she graduates.
Laura is a great role model to us all and an inspirational young lady.
